May 16, 2012Medical Supplies Needed for Mozambique
A 40' shipping container full of medical supplies will depart from Platte Woods UMC for Chicque Rural Hospital in Mozambique in June. If your congregation would like to collect items or has medical equipment that you would like to send to CRH, please deliver to PWUMC at 7310 NW Prairie View Dr, Platte Woods, or bring to Annual Conference and drop off at the Mozambique Initiative booth.
General items to collect:
Bendryl Allergy Medicine
Children's Liquid Tylenol or Ibuprofen
Neosporin Antibiotic Cream
Surgical gloves
Latex or latex-free procedure gloves
Disposable diapers (children & adult)
White sheets
Detergent such as Tide and bleach

From Rev. Michele Sue Shumake-Keller: " The Conference Values Team is partnering with the General Board of Global Ministries to enlarge the pool of scholarships available to racial ethnic clergy and laity for the 2012 School of Congregational Development. Hence we will also offer a designated amount of $300 grants to attendees from the St. Louis Metropolitan area and $500 to persons coming from other areas of the state. Our goal is to encourage congregational teams of the pastor and one or two other persons to attend. "
The deadline for applications is Wed, April 25, 2012.

Targeted at youth who will complete grades 9-12 during the current school year, the camp wil be a mix of team-building, worship, in-depth instruction, and fun. Campers will stay in the residence halls on the Central Methodist University campus in Fayette. Cost is $100.

January 19, 2012Postage Rate Increase - According to stamps.com, first class postage increases to 45 cents, postcard rate increases to 32 cents, and large flat envelopes increase to 90 cents as of January 22 (Sunday). Extra ounces remain at 20 cents. Of course, "forever" stamps can still be used if you have those on hand.
